The National Institute for Health Research Trainees Coordinating Centre (NIHR TCC) makes training awards to researchers whose work focuses on people and patient-based applied health research. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funds this research training in order to build a leading NHS Research Faculty, develop research careers, research leaders and collaborators. This research capacity development is managed by the NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre (NIHRTCC) and funded by the Department of Health.

The research must be relevant to the NHS, focused on the current and future needs of patients and the public and expected to have an impact within 5 years of its completion. The NIHR does not fund basic research or work involving animals and/or animal tissue.

There are a large range of awards available: at different levels, to suit different work arrangements, types of NHS staff and career paths. The menu box on the left gives details of our programmes.

NIHR Trainee Meeting 2013 - 26th and 27th November 2013 - Queens Hotel, Leeds West Yorkshire. Registration Opens at 11am on 2nd September 2013.

Clinical Trials Fellowships - Applications are now invited from current NIHR Trainees (please see guidance notes for eligibility criteria) in partnership with a Clinical Trials Unit in receipt of NIHR CTU Support Funding. For more details
On the 28 February 2013, the NIHR will launch a cross-programme call for research which evaluates health care interventions or services delivered in primary care settings. The call closes on the 22 May 2013, with funding decisions expected in March 2014. Round 7 of the fellowships will be participating in the call, and current trainees may also be interested in other programmes. For More Details
