The NIHR/CNO Clinical Lectureship represents the postdoctoral element of the CAT Programme. The posts support postdoctoral research training combined with the continuing development of clinical expertise. The balance of clinical and academic commitments will normally be 50:50. Applicants require nomination by both an English NHS or other healthcare organisation and an academic organisation such as a higher education institution. Nominees must propose how the award will enable the nominee to make a significant contribution to clinical practice and support their development as a potential clinical academic leader.

The posts will be co-funded by the employing organisation who will provide 50% of the clinical lecturer's salary. The remaining proportion and a contribution towards research costs (£30,000 for the duration of the award) will be met by the Department of Health.
