NIHR/HEE Clinical Academic Training Programme for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Health Education England (HEE) support the provision of an integrated clinical academic training programme for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.
Competitions for Masters, Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship, Clinical Lectureship and Senior Clinical Lectureship awards have been held since 2009.

Round 5 of the NIHR/HEE CAT Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship Scheme, the NIHR/HEE CAT Clinical Lectureship Scheme and the NIHR/HEE CAT Senior Clinical Lectureship Scheme has now launched. Please click on the links above for the scheme you are interested in to see details of how to apply.
As a 1 year pilot in 2014, pharmacists are eligible to apply for a Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship and funding to undertake a Masters in Clinical Research.

Please check the list of health professions that are eligible to apply for the Clinical Academic Training awards (click here).
- As a 1 year pilot in 2014, pharmacists are eligible to apply for a Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship and funding to undertake a Masters in Clinical Research.
Note that all Nurses, Midwives and AHPs may be eligible for other awards such as the NIHR Fellowships (click here for details).
